On such a dreich night it was lovely to be welcomed by warm, friendly faces, a glass of Fizz and a fantastic Mad Hatters Tea Party. I used to watch the ‘give blood’ adverts on TV and think to myself ‘I must pluck up the courage to donate blood soon’. However, I never quite found the time. Perhaps I was conveniently too busy to get around to donating as I hate needles. A fear that was fuelled by a bad blood test when I was pregnant and suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (severe morning sickness). Giving blood seemed like a thing only super brave people could do.
