3 Harbours Arts Festival
- 18 Jun 2009
Last weekend I was helping my fishmonger Daniel Mac from Port Seton at the 3 Harbour Seafood Festival.
It was the first Seafood Festival at the event and it was a great success! It was held beside the Cockenzie power station and featured some great local produce including brown crab, langoustine, smoked haddock and kipper as well as oysters from the summer isles, which are beautiful with a squeeze of lemon juice and a glass of pinot grigio rose!
At 12.30pm there was a big thunder storm and everybody rushed into the marquees and unfortunately by 1.30pm some stands were running out of food.
I think this festival is going to be much bigger next year.
As I said last week we needed some rain to get the first Scottish Girolle or Chanterelle mushrooms to appear, and it did rain a lot but sadly but not enough so I only managed to gather a couple of handfuls for my own table.
Now on season and featuring on our menu is East Lothian crab, line caught mackerel, courgette and beetroot.
