My Days Off
- 30 Jul 2009
It usually starts by wandering in the garden with my second morning coffee at the back of 8am or earlier if I am going fishing like I did on Monday. So it was a 5am rise and on the road by 6am, driving down to the South West to fish the River Annan at Brydekirk. I caught a 6lb nice fresh little salmon, but it is not all about fishing - I spend lots of time watching the wild life such as otters, herons, buzzards and above all I try and relax! After fishing it was home to Prestonpans by 8pm just in time for my 6 year old daughter, Margot's bedtime.
The next day was up early again to go for a family walk into our secret wood with my black Labrador Enzo and to do a little mushroom picking for my own table - right now we're picking a lot of chanterelles and yesterday we picked the very first cepes.
Back to the house for a nice lunch, after a quick look around the garden and the green house - fresh herbs, potatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, and oak leaf lettuce will be part of the menu for us today. I love gardening and we have been organic for the last 3 years.
The rest of the day is spent with my partner Nathalie and Margot (quality family time is very precious to me). Perfection!
