6. verdhelo, don cristobal, argentina, 2008 £21.50
an unusual grape variety from argentina, which takes its origin from portugal, fruity aromas with floral tones and its balanced freshness.
5. chardonnay, santa ema, chile 2008 £22.50
a perfect balance of tropical fruits make this a fresh, full wine with a long, expansive finish. An elegant, complex wine with light notes of toast and vanilla.

fresh gooseberry and tinned pear on the nose and the palate. crunchy granny smith apple fruit, with tropical fruit notes, ideal partner to seafood dishes.

100% Chardonnay. The palate is restrained at first but quickly followed
by well balanced floral and mineral flavours . The finish is persistent and lovely.
21. st véran fleur, saumaize-michelin, burgundy 2007 £42.00
this is aged on its lees with no oak aging at all. superbly juicy, with a leasy nose, lots of ripe melon, grapefruit, pineapple and a super complexity. finish is creamy and floral and very moreish.

elegance and refinement don’t even scratch the surface of this wine - soft yet powerful with mineral characteristics backed by subtly voluptuous notes of peaches and melons

the aroma is intense white flowers, honeysuckle and apricot nectar. silky, rich and luscious with citrus and tropical fruit flavours and a lovely fresh finish.

a revelation, the finest chenin we have ever tasted, with so much perfumed, peachy fruit it could be served alongside a top white burgundy and would still shine.

Dry, Light & Fruity Reds

lovely soft, spicy sangiovese, dark ruby in colour with herbaceous cherries and violets on the nose and a good medium weight palate

a full bodied and spicy blend of the indigenous nero d’avola grape, and the more familiar dark berried character of shiraz.

particularly good value, made from young vines which will eventually produce fruit for the far more expensive rubicon blend. juicy plum-cassis fruit, fine silky tannins & excellent length.

this epitomises the value and quality which chile can offer. superb balance and concentration of black cherries, herbs, spicy black pepper and a touch of chocolate.

red cherry and raspberry with pine tar and a great acidic tingle. ripe and very good. organic though and through.
40. chateau puygeraud, bordeaux, france 2002 £40.00
the soft, supple merlot makes it silky smooth. the cabernet gives structure, tannin and ripe blackberry fruits; this is gorgeous now and for the next five years easily.
43. châteauneuf du pape, parcelles 38, france 2006 £48.50
produced by the proprietors of chateau de trignon this is first rate chateauneuf. mostly grenache with some syrah in the blend and aged for 6 months in oak. the resulting wine is soft full bodied and opulent with hints of spice and black cherry.
