classic and classy chenin showing lovely honeyed apple fruit with lovely fresh
acidity an excellent all rounder which is perfect with food or on its own.
2. semillon chardonnay, jacobite ridge, australia 2007 £16.00
Classic Australian blend with smooth richness from the Semillon grape and
body, freshness and delicious tropical fruit and pineapple notes provided by
the Chardonnay.
3. pinot grigio, la casada, italy 2007 £18.00
wonderful cream soda nose, crisp lively acidity backed by classic flavours of
herbs, peach, gooseberries, and a slightly spicy finish.
4. "guilhem" blanc, moulin de gassac, languedoc, 2005 £17.50
from one of the most famous estates in southern france, this is golden yellow
in colour with powerful and seductive characteristics and has great length
on the finish - perfect with white fish dishes.
5. chardonnay, santa ema, chile 2006 £20.00
a perfect balance of tropical fruits make this a fresh, full wine with a long,
pleasant finish. An elegant, complex wine with light notes of toast and vanilla.
6. muscadet de sevre & maine, sur lie vieilles vignes 2006 £19.50
in the right hands, as this muscadet is, it has great charm and character - very clean and fresh with a slight 'petillance'- versatile, can accompany any fish or white meats.
7. sauvignon blanc, three stones, marlborough, nz 2007 £26.95
a zesty and delicious wine. flavours of passion fruit and gooseberry combine
with mouth-watering acidity, creating a truly refreshing wine.
8. petit chablis, domaine de colombier, france 2006 £29.95
classic Petit Chablis. the nose is loaded with minerals, citrus, white flower
aromas with hints of wet stone. minerally, tight and racy with cool flavours
and perfect balance.
9. rioja blanco, bodegas campillo, spain 2006 £26.00
this is lovely and fresh, showing aromas of new mown grass with lemon
and lime styled fruit on the palate and balanced subtle oak in the finish.
delicious with fish and spicy dishes.
10. macon uchizy, domaine talmard, burgundy, france 2006 £27.50
great value white burgundy with no oak, just fresh green apple and nut
flavour with just a touch of honey. full of character and clean fruit, one of
the best value White Burgundies around.
11. sancerre, domaine hubert brochard, france 2006 £32.00
grapefruit, lime, spice and nineral notes with citrus and honey, spices and
minerals and even a hint of herbal tea - great if you have a cold!
12. gewurztraminer, domaine zind humbrecht, alsace 2004 £31.00
super zesty, peach and melon aromas balanced and lifted with citrus flavours.
excellent food wine ideal with fish and chicken dishes.
14. gavi, la zebra, italy 2006 £30.00
this is discrete gavi and very much not of the current fashion for high alcohol
and oak. It is lovely and pure with a perfumed nose of honeysuckle and pear.
this reflects onto the palate and is balanced by some tropical fruit and lovely
mineral fresh acidity.
15. st veran, domaine de morats, jj vincent, france 2005 £32.00
this wine is showing all the complexity of aged white burgundy at a fifth of
the cost - wonderfully complex and mature.
16. pouilly fume, la loge aux moines, france 2006 £33.00
small family owned estate showing their skills by pinpointing the highlights
of this noble sauvignon blanc grape. fresh and full with gooseberries and
a touch of smoke on the nose. apple palate and more fresh gooseberries.
great with shellfish, and white meats.
17. montagny 1er cru, olivier leflaive, burgundy 2006 £39.50
The aromas here are more herbal and floral, with green citrus and grapefruit
too. Delicious, fresh, vibrant fruit on the palate, mouthwatering grapefruit
and a twist of lime, layered with mineral. Lively, fresh and moreish.
18. chateau les charmes godard, blanc france 2006 £40.00
the large amount of semillon along with the vinification techniques give
the wine richness and creaminess as well as a good vein of acidity. the
complexity of aromas shows through thanks to a careful blend of
muscadelle and sauvignon gris grapes.
19. pinot gris, "tradition" Hugel, France 2000 £42.00
magnificent estate bottled pinot gris from one of alsace's most highly acclaimed producers. lime-style acidity that cleans the palate and lasts and lasts.
20. chablis ler cru vaillons, louis michel, france 2004 £45.50
from arguably one of the top chablis producers using totally traditional
methods, this mouth-filling wine displays wonderfully powerful aromas and
rich, flinty peachy flavours.
21. pouilly fuisse, chateau fuisse, jj vincent, france 2000 £49.50
Intense bouquet of dried fruit with nuances of vanilla and oak. On the palate
it is fleshy, generous and full flavoured giving flavours of white peaches on
the finish. seductive already, it will continue to age.
22. meursault, adamas, burgundy, 2004 £58.00
a wonderful example of a classic meursault from a great vintage from one of
the most respected producers. powerful aroma and rich palate of honey, nuts
and peaches.

23. guilhem rose, Moulin de gassac, france 2006 £22.00
a blend of syrah and cinsault grapes this wine has a lovely deep salmon pink
colour and has a fresh bouquet of red fruits. It is very clean on the palate with ripe fruit flavours and a lingering dry finish.
24 . sancerre rosé brochard, loire, france 2006 £34.55
Think strawberries and raspberries in a glass and you need go no further! The quintessential Rosé - delicate yet pronounced, summer red fruits with a lovely, fresh, clean finish.

25. tempranilllo, quintanna, spain 2005 £15.50
presented by quintana as a special anniversary bottling, this shows ripe, black and red cherry fruit with good meaty scents and a weighty palate. excellent with red meats, cheese or on its own.
26. cabernet sauvignon, santa ema, chile 2006 £16.50
Absolutely jam packed with loads of blackcurrant fruit bursting out -
beautifully rich wine.
27. chateau lagrange les tours, bordeaux superieur 2004 £19.50
wonderful claret scents - superb deep plum nose with hints of ripe bramble,
some spice, lots of lovely herby fruit and a wonderfully soft, black fruited finish.
28. merlot reserve, santa ema, chile 2005 £23.50
the merlot reserva of the pavone family is full of rich, black, berry fruits which have been splashed by cassis and vanilla and has lovely soft tannins.
29. cotes du ventoux rouge, vidal fleury, france 2005 £21.50
classic savoury style with lovely ripe red berry fruit, hints of mulled wine spices and lovely soft tannins with a lengthy finish - perfect with lamb and beef.
30. cotes du rhone, paralelle 45, france 2006 £23.50
one of the outstanding wines of the appellation. nose of baked red fruits. Full
bodied - a really delicious mouthful of wine
31. pinot noir, francesca bay, marlborough, nz 2006 £25.50
grown on selected marlborough vineyards where the grapes are selected
and harvested by hand. aged in oak casks this fine pinot shows a vibrant
colour and a complex abundance of strawberry, dark cherry and berry fruit
with a creamy soft finish.
32. campillo crianza, rioja, spain 2002 £27.50
flagship estate of the martinez fustion family. made from 100% tempranillo
and aged for far longer than required by law. seductive, packed with black
cherry fruit, cream, game and a silky finish.
33. fleurie, domaine de fontabon, beaujolais, france 2005 £27.50
this is superbly full flavoured showing lots of red and black fruit flavours
balanced by not over dry tannins.
34. laforet bourgogne rouge, drouhin,burgundy, 2006 £25.00
a great bourgogne from a top nuit st. george producer. intense raspberry,
sloes and damson fruit on the nose. a well structured palate with fine ripe
tannins and good concentration of red summery fruits. a long clean finish.
35. shiraz, bloodstone, gemtree, Australia 2003 £29.50
gemtree's shiraz really does raise the bar from the more generic offerings.
It's full of ripe, smoky, peppery Shiraz fruit that just ticks all the right boxes.
36. chateau franc cormeil, st emilion, france 2005 £32.00
An appealing, complex nose of undergrowth and fruits. A full-bodied wine
with the firm backbone typical of the cabernet grape and a long finish with
beautiful aromas.
37. vacqueyras, j vidal fleury, france 2003 £35.00
lovely savoury, earthy nose which is quite restrained. good concentration of
rich, chunky fruit on the palate with a spicy finish.
38. petit verdot, ceravolo, adelaide plains, australia 2004 £34.00
fresh peppery fruit, layers of cherry, plum and blackcurrant having developed
in french & american oak for 18 months.
39. chateau puygeraud, bordeaux, france 2002 £36.95
the soft, supple Merlot makes it silky smooth. the Cabernet gives structure,
tannin and ripe blackberry fruits; this is gorgeous now and for the next five
years easily.
40. valpolicella superiore, 'ripasso', corte st alda, italy 2004 £43.00
huge fruit, blackberries, stewed figs, spice and herbs with a nicely concentrated palate and a lovely expansive finish. mini amarone.
41. crozes hermitage, "les jalets" paul jaboulet, france 2006 £36.00
showcases the rhone valley style of syrah beautifully. A deep core of red currant and dark berried flavours are complemented perfectly by a peppery finish.
42. vina valduero reserva, ribera del duero, spain 2001 £47.00
the aroma is intense and complex with a beautiful, spicy, wild fruit bouquet.
on the palate this is an extremely rich wine with lots of plummy and vanilla
flavours showing its class and breeding.
43. ripper creek, cabernet shiraz, barossa, australia 2003 £49.50
Dark, concentrated yet elegant berry fruit is perfectly balanced with layers
of oak influenced flavours, coffee, mint and leather.
44. clos canon, 2nd wine of chateau canon, st emilion, 2002 £52.00
nose of chocolate, plums, blackberry and cedar. A very pleasing palate of plums, blackberry, and coffee, more plush then the nose lets on, perfectly balanced.
45. nuits st george, adamas, burgundy, france 2004 £58.00
this legendary village produces deep coloured and richly flavoured burgundy
whilst maintaining elegance and finesse. simply stunning wine.
