classic and classy chenin showing lovely honeyed apple fruit with lovely fresh acidity an excellent all rounder which is perfect with food or on its own.
2. sauvignon blanc, las condes, chile 2007 £17.50
intensely floral with elderflower notes and a grassy quality. the palate reflects the same fruit profile with crisp acidity and a touch of citrus fruit on the finish.
3. inzolia/chardonnay, il paradosso, italy 2007 £18.00
a very fresh style of white driven by crisp, vibrancy from the inzolia grape with body, and soft pineapple flavours provided by the chardonnay.
4. pinot grigio, la casada, italy 2007 £19.00
wonderful cream soda nose, crisp lively acidity backed by classic flavours of herbs, peach, gooseberries, and a slightly spicy finish.

a perfect balance of tropical fruits make this a fresh, full wine with a long, pleasant finish. An elegant, complex wine with light notes of toast and vanilla.

this unique wine in argentina, which takes its origin from portugal, is characterized by its fruity aromas with floral tones and its balanced freshness.

fresh gooseberry and tinned pear on the nose and the palate. the superb crunchy granny smith apple fruit, with tropical fruit notes, makes this an ideal partner to seafood dishes.

well-structured, fresh and fruity with a long mineral finish. green apple, pear, grape fruit and banana hints on the nose.

aromatic green flavours with a lick of fresh minerals. the wine has more weight than you would expect from a sauvignon but it still elegant and crisp on the finish.

great value white burgundy with no oak, just fresh green apple and nut flavour with a touch of honey. full of character and clean fruit, one of the best value white burgundies around.

grapefruit, lime, spice and nineral notes with citrus and honey, spices and minerals and even a hint of herbal tea - great if you have a cold!
14. gavi, la zebra, italy 2007 £32.50
this is discrete gavi and very much not of the current fashion for high alcohol and oak. It is lovely and pure with a perfumed nose of honeysuckle and pear. this reflects onto the palate and is balanced by some tropical fruit and lovely mineral fresh acidity.

super zesty, peach and melon aromas balanced and lifted with citrus flavours. excellent food wine ideal with fish and chicken dishes.

a revelation, the finest chenin we have ever tasted, with so much perfumed, peachy fruit it could be served alongside a top white burgundy and would still shine.

wonderful concentration of fresh gooseberry and cut grass aromas with classic smokey, apple tart nose, nice full palate with good balance. a super food wine.

herbal and floral, with green citrus and grapefruit too. delicious, fresh, vibrant fruit on the palate, mouthwatering grapefruit and a twist of lime, layered with mineral. lively, fresh and moreish.

elegance and refinement don't even scratch the surface of this wine - soft yet powerful with mineral characteristics backed by subtly voluptuous notes of peaches and melons

made from marsanne, roussane and grenache with a touch of maccabeu and carignan Blanc. 50% of the wine is fermented in oak and aged there until spring of the following year. a compelling, aromatic & complex white.

subtle notes of mature fruit and flowers with hints of pear, apricot, citrus fruits, toasted hazelnuts, acacia, hawthorn and honey. persistent and aromatic.

35 year old vines. richer and more generous on the aroma, but still light and delicate. lovely pure fruit combined with nervosity and slight flint. excellent balance.

a wonderful example of a classic meursault from a great vintage from one of the most respected producers. powerful aroma and rich palate of honey, nuts and peaches.

vibrant pink in colour with amazing floral aromas, this wine has a distinct freshness and strawberry character.

the traditional 'clairette' where the original name of claret comes from. soft, full blackcurrant fruit bursting out. A big rosé, with elegance and restraint!

opulent black fruit character twinned with low levels of tannin makes this perfect for early drinking. we even encourage you to try it slightly chilled during summer.

a full bodied and spicy blend of the indigenous nero d'avola grape, and the more familiar dark berried character of shiraz.

Very well balanced with floral aromas and a touch of spice. Harmonious on the palate with tannins and acidity working well with the redcurrant fruit.

one of the outstanding wines of the appellation. nose of baked red fruits. Full bodied - a really delicious mouthful of wine.

the merlot reserva of the pavone family is full of rich, black, berry fruits which have been splashed by cassis and vanilla and has lovely soft tannins.

wonderful claret scents - superb deep plum nose with hints of ripe bramble, some spice, lots of lovely herby fruit and a wonderfully soft, black fruited finish.

aged in oak casks this fine pinot shows a vibrant colour and a complex abundance of strawberry, dark cherry and berry fruit with a creamy soft finish.
34. rioja reserva, ondarre, spain 2005 £34.50
aromas of oak ageing with hints of spices. strong attack, good backbone, full-flavoured, with well integrated long-lasting tannins. long and persistent finish.

this is superbly full flavoured showing lots of red and black fruit flavours balanced by not over dry tannins.

gemtree's shiraz really does raise the bar from the more generic offerings. It's full of ripe, smoky, peppery shiraz fruit that just ticks all the right boxes.

this is classic st emilion showing deep plum and blackcurrant fruit with hints of leather and lovely dry, but soft tannins

100% syrah with classic aromas of bramble and a little spice. oak flavours are restrained to let the fruit shine through, a characteristic of etienne's wines.

aromas of violets, cherries & raspberry with soft velvety, aromatic and spicy characters after aging for 12 months in french and american oak.

the soft, supple merlot makes it silky smooth. the cabernet gives structure, tannin and ripe blackberry fruits; this is gorgeous now and for the next five years easily.

an immediately appealing, high-quality wine. A combination of blackberry and dark plums, with a slightly savoury finish.

produced by the proprietors of chateau de trignon this is first rate chateauneuf. mostly grenache with some syrah in the blend and aged for 6 months in oak. the resulting wine is soft full bodied and opulent with hints of spice and black cherry.

dark, concentrated yet elegant berry fruit is perfectly balanced with layers of oak influenced flavours, coffee, mint and leather.

superb example of this big, rich red style, speciality of the Veneto. dark and bitter cherry, sweet liquorice and soft plum all underpinned by edgy tannins.

elegant, toasty oak with ripe, dark fruit and spicy leather notes, rich and complex. robust with firm tannins, lots of ripe black fruits with spiciness. toastiness on the finish. simply stunning wine.
