Peter and Mhairi Taylor founded The Town House Collection in May 1990, with the opening of Channings Hotel in three Edwardian townhouses. Their vision was to build a small collection of luxury, boutique hotels in city-centre locations, each of which would have its own particular appeal. To this end, The Howard was acquired in 1995, The Bonham opened in 1998 and The Edinburgh Residence suites taken over in 2002. Blythswood Square will open in Glasgow in April 2009, possibly the most ambitious project to date.

Over the years all The Town House Collection hotels have received awards for hospitality, style, great service or fantastic dining. We believe that consistency in all these areas is one of our strengths, and we have strong, longstanding relationships with many of our customers who seem to agree; but we never sit on our laurels. We use our experience to make things even better.

In addition to caring for around 73,000 guests a year, Peter Taylor is also a supporter of the Fareshare charity, sits on or chairs several industry and government committees and is a well-known mentor for young people considering hospitality as a career.
