Blythswood Square Mixologist Receives Top Award
- 22 JUN 2010
Scott Ingram who has been with the hotel since it opened last September, was named winner of the overall competition after he used his expertise to create two award winning cocktails using Scotland’s premium spirit brands anCnoc Highland Single Malt and Caorunn handcrafted small batch gin. Fellow bar tender, Dean Evans was placed third after facing strong competition from across the country.
Top mixologists from Scotland and the North of England descended on Glasgow to showcase their skills and battle it out to win the coveted title of Caledonian Bartender Champion 2010 and £1,000 prize money. As well as having to create two specially themed cocktails, entrants also had to take part in a neat tasting session and blind tasting challenge to prove their ability and skill in the art or cocktail making.
Scott Ingram used his personal experiences as his inspiration to create the drinks – commenting on his win he said: “When I’m thinking of new and exciting ideas for drinks, I find that drawing from your own experiences is the best way to give a cocktail a bit of character and individuality – whether this comes from a family memory or a conversation with friends."
“Competitions like this are a great platform for bartenders to showcase their creations and I’m delighted to have won this title and look forward to introducing my new cocktails to the guests at Blythswood Square.”
